About the Journal

1. Mission and Objectives

Tan Tao University Journal of Science (TJS) is a multidisciplinary academic journal established with the aim of disseminating scientific research (SR) results from Tan Tao University; introducing scientific studies both domestically and internationally to promote SR activities and technology transfer; and facilitating scientific and technological exchanges with relevant institutions to serve the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta region and the country as a whole. The journal is divided into three main fields:

(I)   Biomedical Sciences

TJS is periodically updated in accordance with legal regulations, serving as a platform to publish research findings, provide guidance, and exchange teaching and research experiences within the educational and academic fields of Tan Tao University.

2. Publication Frequency and Method

The TJS Journal publishes scientific articles upon approval for publication by the Editor-in-Chief and implements continuous publication. The Journal publishes 4 issues per year, with each issue corresponding to a 3-month period and release on the first day of March, June, September, and December.

TJS is committed to a full open-access policy to enhance the accessibility, sharing, and dissemination of scientific knowledge. All articles published in TJS can be:

  • Read online
  • Downloaded
  • Copied, distributed, and printed
  • Searched and cited

without requiring account registration, payment of fees, or permission from the authors and the Editorial Board, provided that the use fully complies with copyright regulations and acknowledges the source of the article.

This policy contributes to encouraging open and transparent academic exchange and promoting the application of research findings in practice.

3. License and Copyright

License No. 05/GP-BVHTTDL, dated January 23, 2026, on the issuance of the operating license for the Print Journal and Electronic Journal by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

4. Peer Review and Publication Process

Tan Tao University Journal of Sciences adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality, integrity, and objectivity. The identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors, and vice versa.

To be published in TTU Review, all submitted manuscripts must undergo preliminary screening by the Editorial Office, anonymous assessment by independent experts, revisions by the authors, and a final acceptance decision by the Editor-in-Chief.

1. Manuscript Submission

The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the Journal via the online submission system at: https://tjs.ttu.edu.vn/.

Note: Authors are strongly encouraged to use the online system for submission to ensure proper tracking. Submissions via email are generally not accepted unless specifically requested.

2. Preliminary Screening and Plagiarism Check

Upon receipt, the Editorial Office conducts an initial assessment:

  • Scope and Guidelines: The editors check whether the manuscript fits the scope of the Journal and adheres to the submission guidelines (formatting, structure).
  • Plagiarism Check: The manuscript is screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate or Turnitin) to ensure originality.
  • Initial Decision: If the manuscript passes this initial assessment, a Section Editor is assigned to handle the review process. At this stage, the Section Editor may reject the manuscript if it is deemed unsuitable for the Journal or lacks sufficient scientific merit.

3. Recommendation of Peer-Reviewers

The Section Editor appoints at least two independent peer-reviewers with relevant expertise to evaluate the manuscript.

  • Policy: TTU Review follows a double-blind review policy; therefore, reviewer and author identities remain confidential throughout the process.
  • Criteria: Reviewers assess the manuscript based on novelty, methodology, data reliability, and scientific contribution.

4. Review Assessment

Reviewers will evaluate the manuscript and provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept submission.
  • Minor revisions required.
  • Major revisions required.
  • Resubmit for review (Second round of review needed).
  • Decline submission (Reject).

Based on the reviewers’ assessments, the Section Editor will determine the next steps for the manuscript.

5. Revisions

If revisions are required, the author must:

  • Revise the manuscript in accordance with the comments from the reviewers and the Section Editor.
  • Submit a "Response to Reviewers" document, providing a point-by-point explanation of how the manuscript has been modified or rebutting specific comments.
  • Ensure that all changes in the revised manuscript are clearly highlighted or tracked.

6. Final Decision

After considering the referees’ recommendations, the author’s revisions, and the Section Editor’s report, the Editorial Board (or Editor-in-Chief) will make the final decision.

  • Once all editorial and scientific issues are resolved, the manuscript will be formally accepted for publication.
  • The accepted manuscript then undergoes technical editing, typesetting, and is scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue.

5. Publication Ethics

Author's Ethical Commitments

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal, authors must commit that the manuscript is an original research work, has not been previously published in any form (full text or abstract), and is not simultaneously submitted to any other journal, conference proceedings, or scientific publication. Authors are only permitted to submit the manuscript elsewhere after receiving an official rejection notification from the Journal.

For research involving hazardous chemicals, equipment, or procedures, authors must commit to fully complying with Vietnamese legal regulations and relevant international organization guidelines. If the research involves human or animal subjects, authors must demonstrate adherence to the ethical guidelines in biomedical research of the Ministry of Health and international conventions recognized by Vietnam. In cases where ethical review is waived, the reasons and evidence must be clearly stated in the article. Research subjects need to be ensured privacy, information security, and provided with complete information for their informed consent to participate in the research.

In addition, authors need to demonstrate respect for colleagues, a sense of social responsibility, and absolutely refrain from any discrimination related to gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or other non-academic factors.

Authors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all review, revision, and editing materials received from the Journal. At the same time, they must protect information related to research participants, funding organizations, commercial or military information, and content that falls under sensitive or confidential information.

Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

Editorial Board play a central role in the scientific article evaluation process, with the following specific tasks:

  • Receiving submitted articles and assigning them to peer reviewers with appropriate expertise, ensuring objectivity and in-depth evaluation during the review process.
  • Monitoring the progress of the review, ensuring the process is transparent and adheres to the prescribed timeline, while also handling any arising situations related to academic ethics or conflicts of interest (if any).
  • Synthesizing and analyzing peer review comments, thereby making an initial academic decision: accept, request minor or major revisions, or reject the article.
  • Acting as a liaison between reviewers and authors, clearly and scientifically conveying review feedback along with specific instructions to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
  • Ensuring that the article meets the requirements for both academic content and presentation format before moving to the editing and publication stage.

Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers are responsible for ensuring the academic quality of the article through an independent, objective, and confidential evaluation process, with the following main tasks:

  • Assessing the novelty, scientific merit, research structure, methodology used, reliability of results, and academic arguments in the article.
  • Identifying errors in content, methodology, or arguments; pointing out unclear, incomplete, or potentially misleading points.
  • Providing constructive comments based on scientific evidence, along with clear recommendations regarding the manuscript's status: accept, require revisions, or reject.
  • Strictly adhering to academic ethical principles, including maintaining the confidentiality of the manuscript content, avoiding conflicts of interest, and not using unpublished information for any personal or academic purposes.

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

The Journal firmly opposes all forms of plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious violation of scientific ethical standards, including:

  • Copying, intentionally or unintentionally, content (sentences, paragraphs, data, images, ideas, etc.) from other sources without proper citation or incorrect citation.
  • Excessive use of cited content, even with attribution, leading to the article being primarily a compilation of other materials without new academic contributions.
  • Providing false information about the source or author of the cited content.
  • "Self-plagiarism": Reusing significant portions of previously published work without proper citation, including duplicate publication of articles or minor data changes to create new articles.

The Journal uses plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin) to identify overlaps and only accepts articles with a similarity index below 20%. Articles exceeding this threshold will be required to revise or be rejected immediately at the initial screening stage.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Journal

The Journal operates in accordance with the license granted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and fully complies with international and Vietnamese intellectual property laws and ethical standards. All submitted, reviewed, edited, and published manuscripts go through a transparent and fair online system, unaffected by personal factors such as gender, academic degree, affiliation, or financial considerations.

The Journal is committed to protecting the personal information of authors, reviewers, editors, and readers; and will not share data with third parties unless required by legal authorities.

Handling Publication Ethics Violations

Upon discovery or notification of unethical behavior (plagiarism, academic fraud, conflicts of interest, discrimination, etc.), the Journal will conduct an investigation, verification, and apply appropriate sanctions, including but not limited to:

  • Requiring article revisions.
  • Rejecting or retracting articles from the Journal's database.
  • Publicly announcing the reasons for the violation on the official website.
  • Prohibiting the violating author from submitting articles for a period of 1 to 3 years, depending on the severity of the violation.
  • Reporting the violation to the author's institution or scientific management agency if necessary.

If the author themselves discovers and self-reports their errors during the manuscript processing, the Journal encourages honesty and will consider mitigating the sanctions if sufficient evidence is provided.

6. Submission & Publication Fees

TJS operates as a non-profit Open Access journal. Currently, the Journal does not charge any fees to authors throughout the entire process, specifically:

  • Submission Fees: Free of charge.
  • Article Processing Charges (APCs): Free of charge.
  • Reviewing Fees: Free of charge.

All costs associated with peer review, editorial processing, and online publication are fully subsidized by Tan Tao University to promote the barrier-free dissemination of scientific research.
